Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst leads new game releases this week

E3 is just around the corner and game releases are starting to slow down a bit, but there are still things releasing that are definitely worth checking out.

Our top picks

Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst

Finally a sequel to the much beloved 2008 first-person free running game. Catalyst expands on the story and gameplay from the original and also brings a new time trial mode in which players can set their own paths for others to compete against. Other than a few multiplayer elements like that, Catalyst retains the single-player only gameplay of the original, so this game is at least worth a quick rental as you beat the campaign after it releases Tuesday.

Bonus round

Soul Axiom

If you haven’t played this story-driven puzzle adventure game on PC yet, you’ll have the chance to play on Xbox One and Playstation 4 starting Tuesday.

SteamWorld Heist

This steampunk turn-based strategy game allows the player to manually control their robot space-pirates’ shots, allowing for strategic bullet bounces. SteamWorld Heist comes to PS4, Vita and PC Tuesday, but is already released on the Nintendo 3DS.
