Here is yet another roundup of the hot trailers hitting screens this week.
Coming hot off this year’s BlizzCon, viewers finally get a look at director Duncan Jones‘ long awaited adaptation of Blizzard’s popular game series. Even as someone who hasn’t played the popular games, I agree that this looks epic. Plenty of Orc and Human battles, telling the lore of its expansive world and the beautiful CGI that will scratch the fantasy itch for people who are still getting over the end of Lord of the Rings. Look for more from Warcraft when it comes out next June.
Spike Lee is back at it with this modern retelling of the Greek play Lysistrata, wherein the women withhold sex from their husbands and boyfriends in an effort to stop gang violence. This looks like it is going to have the heart of many of Lee’s other films, coupled with a highly political message, as it is set against the modern backdrop of Chicago. Plus it stars the likes of Nick Cannon, Wesley Snipes, Angela Basset and Samuel L. Jackson. Watch out for Chi-Raq when it comes to theaters in December.
Director James Bobin is taking audiences back to Wonderland with this sequel to 2010’s Alice in Wonderland. This time Wonderland is in danger and it needs Alice’s help once again. This looks somehow more surreal than its predecessor and brings back a cavalcade of stars like Mia Wasikowska, Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter, as well as newcomers like Sacha Baron Cohen and Andrew Scott. Alice through the Looking Glass trips it way into theaters next May.
