There’s one month to go until Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theaters, and the existence of Star Wars culture has become more and more visible each day. For those who aren’t fans of the film, December 18, 2015 is just another day to get holiday shopping done. But for long-time fans, the day possibly ignites more excitement than Christmas.

The long-awaited film inspired actress and fan Ashley Eckstein to create a Star Wars inspired clothing collection. Eckstein is the voice of Ahsoka Tano in Star Wars Rebels and the founder of fangirl fashion company Her Universe. Although she grew up as a Star Wars fan, she only recently discovered a Star Wars sisterhood. Eckstein explains,

The problem was that female fans were overlooked because society considered Star Wars to be a ‘boys’ property. How can you put a gender on Star Wars? To me, Star Wars is a story of hope, a story of good overcoming evil — you can’t put a gender on that!”

Eckstein says one of her goals when starting Her Universe was to help stores offer an equal amount of Star Wars clothing for women as they do for men. Specifically, she had her sights set on the alternative apparel store Hot Topic. She has achieved that goal, and Her Universe is now carried at the major retailer.

Space has long been an inspiration to fashion designers. Her Universe joins the company of celebrated brands like Fendi, Marc Jacobs and Valentino, who have all had interstellar-inspired collections.

This collection is far more than a few novelty T-shirts. Actually, it’s quite apparent that Eckstein took contemporary silhouettes, hues and textures into account when developing the collection. On-trend Fall staples like bomber jackets, motorcycle jackets and oversized sweaters are just some of the pieces that Eckstein includes to keep her Star Wars sisterhood looking good.
