It seems the rumors had it right. I am excited to confirm that “Supergirl” will run as a new series on CBS this upcoming fall. Kara Zor-El, cousin of Superman, is sent to Earth to avoid death on her home planet, Krypton. Now 24 years old, Kara decides to embrace her unique gift and use her superpowers to save humankind.

The “Supergirl” storyline comes from Warner Bros. and producer Greg Berlanti, who created the “Arrow” and “The Flash” for the CW television network.

Supergirl’s cast is proving to be a spectacular lineup. Kara Danvers, a.k.a. “Supergirl” will be played by Melissa Benoist, who is also known for her roles in Whiplash and the well-known television series, “Glee.” For those of you who are “Grey’s Anatomy” fans, Lexi Grey, a.k.a Chyler Leigh, will star as Kara’s sister, Alex Danvers. Other important cast members include: Calista Flockhart, David Harewood and Mehcad Brooks.
